I moved to Maprik town in 1969 and stayed at the school there for four years. Tino Babao was my predecessor. The school was on the edge of town next to the compound. Maprik was quite the 'Big Smoke' after Nanu River. It had about 80 or so expatriates living in and around the township, and boasted a pub, hospital, post office, stores, a golf course/airstrip, a tennis court - you name it.
