Morobe Goldfields –
pre-WW2.
Michael Waterhouse is well advanced in writing a book on the Morobe
Goldfields prior to WW2, and is looking for photographs of people who were
on the field at this time. While he would be interested in any photos of
individuals, he is particularly interested in obtaining photos of the
following: Shark-Eye Park, Jack Nettleton, Cecil Levien, J.C. Coldham,
George Arnold, Doris and Charles (Yorkie) Booth, Burleigh Gorman, Bill
Royal, Bill Money, Dick Glasson, Frank Chisholm, Harry Darby, Hector Wales,
Harry O’Kane, the Mining Warden J.D.Mclean, A.W.D. Mullins, Pard Mustar, Ray
Parer, Helmuth Baum, Ned Coakley, Alice Innes, Eric Weine, Florence Stewart
and Alice Bowring.
Could members who have photos of these or other people from this period,
please contact Michael by email
or on 02 9360 0226.
The above are a number of stills from some 1929-30 film footage, showing a
number of people from the goldfields and elsewhere in New Guinea whose names
are unknown. If any members have photos of people from this period and
can use these to identify people in the stills, Michael would very much
appreciate it if they could contact him.
