Many Australians believe that Australia's first engagement in World War 1 was at Gallipoli in April 1915. In fact it took place near Rabaul, in German New Guinea, in September 1914.
To mark the Centenary of this engagement, PNGAA has put together this exhibit on German New Guinea and World War 1, consisting of items obtained from back issues of Una Voce and from other sources, in the hope that this will increase awareness of this important episode in Australia's history.

The colour scheme of this exhibit is derived from the khaki uniforms worn by Australian Army troops in World War 1.
